This month we’ll be visiting a great mountain biking area that is deserving of more attention – Mount Lofty, in Redesdale. Some of our older riders might remember racing 24 hour events out there in the early 2000s, and there were XC races as part of a series up there until about 2014. It’s classic old school XC, with rocky sections, minor technical features and undulating bushland.
The ride is scheduled for Sunday 23 June and will take about 2 hours, and will cover about 16 km of mostly single track, with about 350 metres of climbing. We will ride at a pretty cruisey pace, with plenty of breaks. Bring water, snacks, and basic tools. Note there are no amenities at the site. You must have a well maintained mountain bike and well fitted helmet that meets Australian standards. And we have a no-drop policy to ensure no-one is left behind.
We’ll aim to pedal off at 9:30 am, meeting at the dam: in Google Maps you can search “Redesdale MTB Trail Head” or the What3Words link is: ///rovers.exteriors.lampposts
